How to Replace the Battery in a Basic Wireless Keypad

Overview

In this article you will learn how to replace the battery in a basic wireless keypad. This can be done to solve issues where the keypad still beeps but doesn't operate the gate. The type of battery used in the basic wireless keypad is a CR123A.

What You Need

  1. Small Phillips head screwdriver
  2. A new CR123A battery

Procedure

Remove the Keypad from its Back Plate

The keypad is held onto the Back Plate with 2 Phillips screws located underneath the bottom corners.
  1. Remove the 2 Phillips screws from the bottom of the keypad.
  2. Remove the keypad by lifting it up and away from the back plate.

Remove and Replace the Battery

  1. Remove the original battery.
  2. Install the new battery.
  3. Confirm the keypad now operates the gate.

Reinstall Keypad

  1. Set the keypad back onto the back plate.
  2. Reinstall the 2 Phillips head screws.
